Family Guy, Blue Harvest: Pure Gold (Saturday, February 09, 2008 1:20:00 PM)
I hate to admit it, but the last season or so of Family Guy hasn't been spectacular. I can almost trace the beginning of the suck to the time when South Park ripped on Family Guy for 2 episodes straight. It seems like lately all they can do is just rip on minorities, throw in a few Adam West lines, and do some cutaways that rip on random celebrities of choice.
Thankfully, however, now there's Blue Harvest.
It makes sense that they'd make an entire movie parodying Star Wars. After all, it seems like they already do one Star Wars joke an episode, so they should have plenty of material (a la, "Can't find the droids I'm looking for" or "Luke sandbagging the guy in the pre-flight meeting").
Blue Harvest pretty much takes every pivotal scene from Episode IV and adds a lot of frankness to the dialog. I especially like the scene at the beginning where the escape pod is being blasted off the ship.

What are we paying by the laser now?" "You don't make the
budget Terry, I do! Ok?!"
So, yeah, not a lot of purpose to this post other than to express my opinion of Blue Harvest. I guess I'm happy that the Writers' Guild strike is about to be over, too. Man ... based on these posts you'd think all I did was watch TV and movies. Maybe I should talk about programming, binge drinking, or chasing tail next time?
