Mac vs. PC Analogy (Tuesday, September 02, 2008 5:59:00 PM)

YES! Finally, a good comparison to point to when people ask me what I think about Macs.  I don't like calling Mac users retards or having to explain my feelings point by point all the way across the features of the operating system.

This picture is pretty succinct.  A Mac is like a tricycle.  Sure, it works, but you'll be playing with the special kids who couldn't figure out how to do anything else.

Sorry Nat, I'll have to call bullcrap on that. I've been forced to work on a Mac for 2.5 years now and I still HATE their design philosophy. I agree completely with the above analogy, bad spelling and all.

Also, a Mac is not customizable at all: changing the hardware is not really an option and there is no software to tweak the system, because the rest of the world is using pc's. I have no idea where you got the 'higher resolution screen' from, that's quite simply not true. And claiming the only thing you can customize on a pc is the background clearly shows you have not used a pc for more than 2 minutes, so perhaps you should tone it down a little.

This is a horrible analogy. Almost as horrible as your grammar. From your opinions of a Mac it can be inferred that you have obviously never used a Mac for more than 2 minutes, or at least without angrily harboring your bias towards Mac the whole time. But if you would seriously sit down, throw your hatred for Mac out of the window for a few minutes, and work with one, you might change your mind. The one thing that makes absolutely no since to me is that you say Mac "does not let you customize it so you don't ruin it." If anything is for CERTAIN it is that Mac is the most customizable computer on the market. The only way you would find a computer that is more customizable than a Mac is if you made it yourself, and even then it probably wouldn't hold a candle to Mac. On PC however, the only thing customizable is the background, which Mac allows the user to do, as well and with a higher resolution screen. So why don't you take two minutes and forget the kindergarten-ingrained bias and unfamiliarity towards the Mac system and try one out. I did, and it has made all the difference.

Forgot to mention: yes, the guy who made this picture obviously has terrible grammar. I'll excuse that for a minute because he makes a good point.

Since I've been sort of nomadic lately, now you can look at this little widget dealie and see where I'm at and what the weather is there. Nifty, eh?
