The First Post Ever!!! (Monday, January 14, 2008 9:58:00 PM)
Aaaaaaaaand done.
Finally, more than 6 months from it's conception, my new website is live. Hmm ... what to do, what to do?
BOOM!
How
about a fucking explosion?! Yeah that's it. I'd make your monitor
explode, too, if I could. That's the type of experience I'm looking
for here: pure amazing. When you leave the site, your computer is
going to be hurting -- it's going to be saying "Cannot compute.
Website exceeds 'fucking_awesomeness_factor' by 3.42e100."
Don't
be surprised if, after reading this, you decide you never want to visit
another website again. It's ok. I understand. This website may
completely satisfy every craving you've ever had to be on the
internet. If that's the case, thanks for visiting, and I'll see you in
the real world some time. The internet was fun, wasn't it?
Ok,
in all seriousness though. Take a look around. The DVD section is
particularly sweet with the imitation Netflix popup and everything. I
wish it was fully transparent, but IE is still the bane of my existence
(yes, even 7). It looked extra sexy in Firefox, but whatever, I
suppose I still have to appeal to 50% of my market and make something
that doesn't turn to garbage on IE ... of course, now the netflix popup
just looks like 50% garbage on both browsers. Oh well. That's a
project for another day.
Other new additions to the site:
- Comments for every post! Go ahead and post comments to my posts, especially the rants.
- Easily
accessible archive. Tying in with the data-driven theme, every post
I've ever made should now be easily accessible. The top 5 are all
that's available at the moment, but coming very soon they should be all
available.
- More frequent posts! (every day or week maybe) This
was the biggest problem with my old site and one of the biggest
time-consumers of this whole site revamp: ease of update. There's a
lot that goes on in this site behind the scenes now to make it very
easy for me to plop up a new blog post as quick as I can write it.
This is opposed to the past, when I had to edit an html page every time
I wanted to make a post ... easy enough for me, but let's face it, it
takes more time than most people have on a daily basis.
So, That's all for the "First Post Ever." As you can see it's quickly approaching my very lame bedtime. Goodbye for now.
